Description

A scarce silver prize winners spoon from the 'County Palatine of Lancaster Small Bore Rifle Association', the finial displaying an enamelled 'Red Rose of the House of Lancaster' with title circlet in white inscribed 'County Palatine of Lancaster (SB) R.A', upon crossed rifle and laurel wreath shank; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1916 and maker's details 'W.B&S'. Very good condition, enamel perfect, minimal wear. Length 124mm. The People Newspaper edition Sunday 05 July 1914 makes a reference to the 'County Palatine of Lancaster Small Bore Rifle Association' holding their second annual prize meeting on June 13 on the range of 'Birkdale and Ainsdale Rifle Club.
