BEA Airline pilots wing gold bullion cloth uniform badge

A good original early example of a 'British European Airways pilot's wing badge', large gold wire bullion embroidery padded wings on felt cloth backing, the centre bearing monogran 'BEA' within a laurel wreath and surmounted by a 'Astral Crown', the reverse with black hessian lining, with the sniped of remains of two pin clutch fittings, designed for easy removal, from the tropical khaki light weight uniform. Very good used condition, bullion remains bright. Width 93mm. 'British European Airways' was formed in 1946, BEA and BOAC merged in 1974 to become British Airways.
