West African Airways Corporation WAAC air stewardess badge

A scarce original circa 1946 to 1958 early pattern example of a 'West African Airways Corporation Air Stewardess hat badge'. Embroidered in gold wire bullion on padded blue grey felt backing, the crest of the airline being a laurel wreath surmounted by an 'astral crown' encircling an airborne winged flying elephant named 'Skypower', the reverse with black hessian backing. Very good condition, gold wire remains bright, an excellent example. Height Approx 48mm. The 'West African Airways Corporation' was a short lived airline, established by the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) in 1946 and dissolved in 1958.
