1960 Olympic Games Rome athletics participants badge

A scarce original '1960 Rome Italy Olympic Games Athletics Participant's badge' depicting a Roman coin within a laurel wreath, the obverse embossed with the she-wolf 'Lupa' suckling 'Romulus and Remus' with 'Olympic rings' below and text 'Roma MCMLX', the reverse with a representation of the 'Arch of Constantine' (Colosseum) and 'Giochi Della XVII Olimpiade' resting on 'Atheta' tablet inlaid with red translucent enamel. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no stress or damage to the enamel. Height 48mm. Width 38mm.
