WW1 F.D.Cowieson & Co Engaged On Government Work Badge

A rare original First World War period 'Engaged On Government Work circular Crowned gilt badge' inlaid with red and blue enamel to the surround, the centre depicting the united emblems of England, Scotland and Ireland, a Rose, Thistle and Shamrock, mounted with white central title bar 'Cowieson's Buildings', the reverse with maker's details 'Thomas Fattorini Bolton' and with 'Reg.638232' a registered, design and patent date of 1914. Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, enamel perfect, gilt remains bright. Height 34mm. iF.
