US Indian Wars/Spanish American War, M1878 Canteen, Cavalry Marked

Original era manufacture. A well used M1878 canteen, with it's original tan canvas coverer, which retains sound stitching. US & 45 stencil on the front, and on the reverse stenciled crossed swords with what appears to be a 1 over a 9, with 46 below.  Wear and staining to the cover with denting to the body, again no breaks, tears or holes. The cork stem and chain are present, however the cork itself is missing.
