Yugoslavian Medal of Labour

Yugoslavian Medal of Labour (Medalja Rada) with ribbon bar Circular gilt bronze medal with the head and shoulders of an heroic male and female worker facing left, the female with her right hand raised, holding a flower between her forefinger and thumb, an open book beyond, a hammer and sickle above; the reverse inscribed 'МЕДАЛА РАДА' (Medal of Labour) within a circular stylised laurel wreath; on original ribbon and pentagonal hanger mounted for wear; with ribbon bar mounted for wear. The medal was instituted on 1 May 1945 by the A.V.N.O.J. (Antifašističko Vijeće Narodnog Oslobođenja Jugoslavije = Anti-Fascist Council of National Liberation of Yugoslavia), de facto government of Yugoslavia at the end of World War II. It was awarded for outstanding contributions to the economy, production and building communism. The medal was cancelled in 1991.
