United States of America Expert Infantryman Badge

A Silver badge 3” wide consisting of an infantry musket on a light blue bar with a silver border the blue colour represents the infantry branch and the musket represents the first official U.S shoulder arm the 1795 model Springfield Arsenal musket the badge was adopted in 1924. To be eligible personnel must meet Department of the Army testing standards announced by the war department on the 27th October 1943. On the 8th February 1952 the Chief of Staff, army approved a proposal to add stars to the badge to indicate award of the badge in separate wars thus it became no longer a single award it is still awarded to date. The badge is marked Sterling to the reverse.
