French 1866 Pattern Chassepot Bayonet, German Reissue, Landwehr Unit Marked

Original period manufacture. French made 1866 Chassepot bayonet, captured during the Franco-German War 1870-71, and reissued to a German Landwehr battalion. Most of the French markings have been removed from the spine of the blade, with Landwehr unit markings stamped on the guard and frog stud. The blade, guard and grip are clean, with the guard and grip showing evidence of being cleaned. Dent free steel scabbard which a cleaned surface, German replaced frog stud instead of the French style standing loop. The pointed stud is Landwehr marked and is a bit loose.
