Description

A heavy brass inkpot from the Kriegsmarine cruiser Prinz Eugen. 6cm diameter pot with hinged lid which opens to reveal a penstand. Anchor on the top of the lid. Engraved 'Prinz Eugen, 1.6.41 Brest'. The Prinz Eugen docked in Brest for engine repairs after involvement in the battle between the Bismarck and HMS Hood in which Hood was sunk. The inkpot belonged to Kreigsmarine seaman 2nd class, S. Brinkmann, with written provenance.
