US Civil War M1860 Cavalry Sword & Scabbard, Emerson & Silver 1864

Description

Original era manufacture. US Civil War M1860 Cavalry sword and sheath. Emerson & Silver manufacture. 1864 Trenton, NJ. Polished steel blade measuring 32 inches in length, running straight and true. There are a few minor nicks in the cutting edge, and some spotting to the blade surface, overall it has a nice luster with no corrosion issues (our photos show a dark spot, this is only a shadow). Brass three branch guard with a nice patina, original leather bound grip which is wrapped with a single strand of twisted brass wire. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings, overall displaying a darkened steel patina. There is a sizable dent just below the bottom carrying ring on each side, this does not hinder the drawing, or inserting the blade. Dents like this occur when carrying swords like this whilst riding large spirited animals. Overall a nice Civil War Cavalry sword, being sold this Christmas for the Widow of an old Pard. All of the money goes to her.
