Johannesburg, Diamond Hill & South Africa 1901 To- LIEUT.C.TOWNLEY-FULLAM.GORRINGES.F.C The recipient was born in Liverpool & was a resident of East Yorkshire. He originally served in South Africa as a CSM with Uitenhage volunteer rifles & Marshalls Horse. Before being commissioned in to Gorringe's Flying Column. He was a bit of a local character in the East Riding & was often mentioned in the Hull daily Mail & the Beverley Echo.
