GVR 1st type WW1 Military Medal (MM) To- 280474.CPL.J.BEATTIE.1/7th.HIGH.L.I James Beattie first landed overseas in the Balkans / Gallipoli 2-7-1915 serving with the 1/7th battalion of the Highland Light Infantry. With service number 2209. He was later re-numbered as 280474 & went on to be awarded the MM for services in France in the London gazette 24-1-1919 which stated that he was a resident of Glasgow.
