WW1 1914-15 Star & British War Medal To- 16-846.PTE.W.HEATON.W.YORK.R William Heaton from Bradford was one of the original members of the 16th service battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment / 1st Bradford Pals. He landed with the battalion in Egypt 22-12-1915 & after service in France he went on to transfer to the 15th service battalion / Leeds pals. He was captured by the Germans & taken prisoner of war in April 1918 when he was wounded in both legs.
