DOUBLE ISSUE QSA & 1914-15 TRIO, SOMERSET LIGHT INFANTRY OFFICER, WOUNDED & M.I.D BOER WAR & K.I.A F&F 19-3-1916

QSA 1899-1902 With clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State & Transvaal, QSA 1899-1902 With clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 & South Africa 1902 & 1914-15 trio To- 31082.PTE.G.B.S.WALDRON.51st.COY.IMP.YEO LIEUT.G.B.S.WALDRON.IMP.YEO (on the 2nd QSA) & LIEUT / CAPT.G.B.S.WALDRON.SOM.L.I (Trio) George Basil Stewart Waldron served as an other rank with the Imperial yeomanry & went on to be commissioned in to the Imperial Yeomanry. He was wounded 21-1-1902 & M.I.D for bringing in a wounded man whilst under fire 17-1-1902. This resulted in him being commissioned 21-3-1902. After his service in the Boer war he went out to work in Argentina but returned to the UK on the outbreak of WW1. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 19-3-1916 serving with the 6th battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry when he was shot through the head by a sniper. He was 40 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in Agny military cemetery in France & is recorded by the CWGC as the late 40 year old son of Son the late Col. Walrond, of Dulford House, Cullompton, Devon; husband of Mabel Walrond (nee Bloxsome), of Flat 8, 40, Poley St., London.
