A truly superb family group to the Tyrrell brothers. 1) 1914-15 Trio To- 2-LIEUT.F.C.TYRRELL.C.GDS. Francis Cichester Tyrrell was the younger son of Sir William & Lady Tyrrell of 36 Egerton Close, Chelsea, London. He was educated at Downside & Balliol colledge, Oxford. He first landed in France 9-1-1915 and sadly died of wounds serving with the 3rd battalion of the Coldstream Guards 16-2-1915 after five short weeks in France. He was 22 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in Bethune town cemetery. 2) 1914-15 Trio To- LIEUT.H.W.L.TYRRELL.RN Hugo William Louis Tyrrell was the elder son of Sir William & Lady Tyrrell & was lost at sea 31-1-1918 with the loss of HM Submarine K.17 during the battle of May. He has no known grave other than the sea but is commemorated on the Chatham Naval memorial & was 26 years of age at the time of his death .Both men are recorded as the late sons of Sir William Tyrrell KCMG, KCVO, CB & Lady Tyrrell of 36 Edgerton Credent, London.SW.3 Both trios are NEF or better and are mounted for wear from the original silk medal ribbons. Complete with CWGC details and other basic research details for both recipients including a good copy image of the C.Gds officer in uniform.
