WW1 PAIR & MEMORIAL PLAQUE, 2/6th LONDON REGIMENT / CITY OF LONDON RIFLES, DIED OF WOUNDS, FRANCE & FLANDERS 22-5-1917

WW1 Pair & Memorial Plaque TO- 5257.PTE.W.J.DOCKERILL.6-LOND.R William John Dockerill was born in Lambeth & lived in Walworth. Whilst enlisting in Southwark. He first landed in France with the service number 5257 but was renumbered with a new six figure TF number 322449. He was mortally wounded 21-5-1917 whilst serving with number seven platoon, B-company, 2/6th London Regiment / The London Rifles & sadly died of his wounds the following day 22-5-1917. He was 26 years old at the time of his death & is buried in Achiet-Le-Grand communal cemetery extension in France. The CWGC state that he was the late 26 year old son of Mrs Nellie Dockerill of 34 Cannon Place Brighton & goes on to state that his mother was a native of Brixton, London NEF & Complete with MIC & medal roll details, Modern grave photographs, Copy platoon photographs with the recipient identified.
