Description

QSA 1899-1902 With Clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal & 1914-15 Trio To- 7352.PTE.W.SCHOLES.VL.COY.1st.L.N.LANC.R & 11155.PTE.W.SCHOLES.E.LAN.R (1914-15 Trio) William Scholes was both born & enlisted in Preston & served with the Volunteer Company of the 1st battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment during the Boer War. He first landed in the Balkans / Gallipoli 1-8-1915 serving with the 6th battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment. He was sadly killed in action on Gallipoli just 8 days later 9-8-1915. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Helles memorial. GVF or better. The clasps on the QSA are loose as a block of three on the ribbon of the medal but not fixed to the suspender as the QSA & Clasps were issued to the recipient at different dates. The ribbons on the trio are on the incorrect medals but I personally have no intention of changing them after 100 years in family hands. Complete with MIC & medal roll details along with details from both SDGW & the CWGC
