GV 1st type WW1 Military Cross (MC) & 1914-15 Trio with M.I.D Oakleaves To- LIEUT/CAPT.S.C.CARTER.R.E (Captain on pair) Stanley Cyril Carter was commissioned in to the Hampshire fortress company of the Royal Engineers 1-9-1914 & first landed in France 4-10-1915.He was mentioned in despatches for services in France 18-5-1917 & this was followed by the award of the Military Cross in the London gazette 1-1-1918. He applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1921 and gave his home address as 83 Abore Row, Southampton.
