East & West Africa with Benin 1897 Clasp, 1914-15 Trio with M.I.D Oakleaves & EVII RN LS&GC To- J.DIWELL.STO.HMS.THESUS (E&W.Africa) & 279173.J.DIWELL.S.P.O.RN (1914-15 Trio) & 279173.JOHN.DIWELL.S.PO.HMS.IRRESISTIBLE John Diwell was born in Camberwell, London 28-11-75 and enlisted in to the Royal Navy in 1895. He was awarded his LS&GC in 1912 & during WW1 he spent most of his service onboard HMS DIDO. He was mentioned in despatches for minesweeping services in the London gazette 20-9-1918.He left the service the following year & sadly passed away in Dartford, Kent 4-6-1949. NEF & Complete with a nice original cabinet photograph of the recipient & his wife. Along with the original pages from the London gazette supplement for the award of the recipients M.I.D & copy service papers & medal roll details.(Please note that the recipients surname has been impressed as Divell on the WW1 Pair. However the number & medal rolls confirm.
