Description

WW1 Pair & Territorial Force War Medal (T.F.W.M) To- 2-LIEUT.W.S.G.CARGILL. William Smith Simpson Cargill was born 29-6-1879 at Easter Craig, Glenisla, Forfar. He had some other rank service with the Scottish Horse in the UK prior to his commission in to the 1/6th battalion of the Black Watch. He was serving in France with A-Company when he was wounded 21-3-1918 on the first day of the German spring offensive. He was evacuated to the UK & went on to serve with the Highland Cyclist battalion prior to relinquishing his commission 24-9-1920. He applied for the initial issue of his campaign medals in 1922 whilst living at Glenree, Alyth, Perthshire & went on to apply for the issue of his TFWM 28-7-1930. He was one of only 12 officers of all battalions of the Black Watch to be awarded the TFWM. NEF & Complete with MIC details & other basic research.
