EVIIR Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM), QSA 1899-1902 With clasps for Cape Colony, Transvaal & Wittebergen, K.S.A 1901-1902 With clasps for South Africa 1901 & South Africa 1902, 1914-15 trio & EVIIR Army LS&GC To- 67554.B.SJT.MJR.J.H.WILKINS.82nd.BTY.RFA (On the Distinguished Conduct Medal) 67554.B.SJT.MJR.J.H.WILKINS.77th.BTY.R.F.A ( On the QSA & KSA Pair) CAPT.H.WILKINS.D.C.M.R.F.A (1914-15 Star) CAPT.H.WILKINS (On the pair) 67554.B.SJT.MJR.H.WILKINS.R.F.A (LS&GC) Herbert Wilkins from Galway enlisted into the R.F.A at Preston 11-6-1888.He landed in South Africa 3-11-1899 & was mentioned in despatches for services in the Boer war 10-9-1901 & this was swiftly followed by the award of the DCM in the London gazette 27-9-1901. He was awarded the LS&GC in army order 67 of 1907 & was commissioned in to the Royal Field Artillery in 1915.He first landed in France 22-11-1915 & was discharged in 1919 .He applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1921 & gave his home address as 33 North Dewes Road, Great Yarmouth. However when he died in 1929 he was living on Jersey in the Channel Islands. It is worthy of note that the recipients 1914-15 star has the DCM post nominals as part of the naming on the reverse of the medal. GVF or better with minor contact marks & complete with MIC details along with both officer & other ranks service papers & other basic research details
