A Very nice & emotive family group to three brothers from Craghead, County Durham 1) WW1 Pair To- 26-406.PTE.J.LANCASTER.NORTH'D.FUS James Lancaster was one of the original members of the 26th service battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers / 3rd Tyneside Irish. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 1-7-1916 on the first day of the battle of the Somme & is buried in Serre road cemetery.No-2. 2) WW1 Pair & Memorial plaque To- 26-1046.PTE.A.LANCASTER.NORTH'D.FUS Arthur Lancaster was one of the original members of the 26th service battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers / 3rd Tyneside Irish.He was serving with the 23rd battalion / 4th Tyneside Scottish when he was killed in action in France & Flanders 29-4-1917 & sadly having no known grave he is commemorated on the Arras memorial. 3) WW1 Memorial Plaque To- CHARLES LANCASTER 267367.Pte.Charles Lancaster was serving with the 1/6th battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers when he died of wounds in France & Flanders 12-4-1918 & is buried in Aire Communal cemetery. All three men were born in Craghead, Durham & Enlisted in Newcastle-on-Tyne. All three men are recorded as the late sons of William & Esther Lancaster of Front street, Craghead, Durham.
