Description

Original period manufacture. Well, last weekend at the Prescott-Valley Flea Market, I stumbled across a similar saddle to this one, but with attributed Arizona history. As Terri and I have room for only one old Cowboy saddle, we'll keep the Arizona one, and offer this wonderful old saddle for sale on our site. This one came to us about 10 years ago, purchased in California, and is in very sound, used condition. While the leather and straps are quite sound for display, I would not advise using this for riding, as it's 124 years of age would make that a dangerous undertaking. The leather has a nice luster to the surface, all stitching is sound, and I cannot see any dry rot, lambs wool under lining is fairly intact. Stamped into the seat, is the makers mark of Wade & Co. San Francisco Cal. The Visalia Stock Saddle Company is still in business today, founded in 1870, it has had a number of partners over the years, to include a man named Wade in 1887, when the company moved to San Francisco. In 1892 Mr. Wade sold his half interest in the company due to health reasons. If you have any interest in the relics of the Old West, this wonderful old saddle would make a great centerpiece for any collection. Please note that the saddle stand and Mexican blanket are not included in the price; they are both on display under our Arizona saddle in our hallway.
