One of the most desirable of the navy dagger makers, this example has the “sailing ship” blade in mint condition and a hammered scabbard. Fine detail to the pommel with hand enhancement to the eagles head, eye and neck feathering. Off white grip is wrapped with twisted brass wire. Much of the detailing to the crossguard is hidden by the correctly tied, period portepee which itself is in mint condition, however visible portions of the crossguard are in excellent condition, the reverse block containing a correctly operating blade release button. Blade must grade mint, having a superb double etch and a needle like tip. The Puma trademark sits proudly on the reverse ricasso, and a red felt blade washer is present. Hammered scabbard has a minor “train door” crease, but is otherwise perfect. Scabbard bands have fine oak leaf depictions and knurled eyelets which show just the right amount of carrying wear. Ideal addition to your Navy collection.
