Third Reich 1st Model Luftwaffe Officers Dagger-WMW

Very unusual maker, “transitional” piece. The move from the cumbersome 55cm “Long” DLV dagger took some time and involved using up old stock and bringing in new materials, to finally arrive at the aluminium 1st luft. This example is a good example of this transition process. Aluminium pommel and crossguard both feature a “pressed in” swastica insert, and are in fine condition. Plated blade is in mint condition having no nicks to the edges and a sharp tip. The Max Weyersberg “WMW” logo is stamped to the reverse ricasso. A leather blade washer is beneath the crossguard, and a period portepee in the correct tie is wound about the grip/crossguard. Scabbard leather is in excellent condition with one tiny area of missing leather to the reverse. Scabbard features steel fittings retained by side mounted, flush fitting screws. Suspension chain also has steel fittings, and is attached to a DRGM marked spring clip. Included is a belt loop having maker marked and dated leather.
