Third Reich Land Customs Dagger-Eickhorn

Beautiful example complete with an extremely rare, period 42cm portepee having silver strap, slide and crown, and an acorn with dark green stripes and a green infill, which was issued to customs officials in the grade of ZOLLSEKRETÄR and OBERZOLLSCHIFFER only. Pommel with typical customs style oak leaves having no damage to the periphery. Green leather covered grip in perfect shape with securely attached twisted wire enhancement. Fine ferrule with similar sharp edged, “pointy” oak leaf embellishments. Crossguard eagle has far better definition than most aluminium examples and is highly raised out from the crossguard body. Bright blade has no damage and a needle sharp tip. Some minor age staining overall, with a deeply stamped Eickhorn 35-41 trademark to the reverse ricasso. A leather blade washer remains within the recess of the crossguard. Scabbard has perfect leather and plated steel fittings which have deeply incised decorative lines to the obverse only. All scabbard screws are present. Upper fitting has the “built in” throat option. Superb example of the land customs dagger, having the benefit of an extremely rare portepee which has considerable value on its own.
