Third Reich Kreigsmarine Officers Dagger-Eickhorn

Late war daggers such as this one have led to the myth of the Naval Administration Dagger-loss of plating have left a silvery finish to the scabbard and other highlights of the crossguard and pommel. Typical late war pommel has less definition than earlier produced pieces, however crossguard still has well detailed fouled anchor and leaf depictions. Off-white grip has twisted silver wire binding which is still taught and securely fixed. A period 42cm portepee, in excellent condition, is in the correct tie about the crossguard. Plain blade has some age to the finish but no damage to the edges. The Eickhorn late war “over the shoulder squirrel “ logo is in place on the upper reverse ricasso beneath the blade washer. Scabbard is in pristine condition other than the loss of guilding which has left a pleasing two tone finish. Twin throat screws are in place in the upper scabbard sides. Scabbard bands and serrated eyelets are the cast-in type and in fine condition.
