Third Reich Luftwaffe Officers Dagger-Herder

Excellent pommel having good definition to the background stippling and fine detail to the acorn and oak leaf depictions. Very attractive translucent orange grip having twisted silver wire wrap. The wire is slightly loose but fixed tightly top and bottom. There is a small chip adjacent to the grip which would be covered by a portepee. Crossguard eagle has excellent detail to the outstretched wing, breast and leg feathers. The birds head has a well defined eye and beak, whilst the talons clutch a mobile swastica. A brown leather washer remains within the crossguard recess. Bright blade has a needle sharp tip with no damage to the edges. The “Richard Abr. Herder” trademark is on the upper obverse ricasso. Scabbard has fine stippled panels with a minor dent to the lower chape area. Domed headed screws retain the throat and appear unturned. Scabbard bands have well detailed oak leaf embellishments and remain securely fixed. Nice example from a less common manufacturer.
