Third Reich Uniform Patch

A black cloth patch with a yellow eagle looking upwards to its right. Beneath the bird ,in black, are the numerals 1944. Insignia totally enclosed within a yellow circle. In good overall condition. This cloth badge was part of a large collection of assorted militaria purchased some years ago. All the daggers in this collection proved to be of the period, and we have no reason to assume these badges are any different, however we have no expertise in this field and would be grateful for any information received.
