Third Reich Bronze DRL Sportsbadge Stickpin

Bronze DRL (Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesübungen - German National Union for Physical Training) Sports Badge Stickpin. Constructed from a die struck bronze base that has been bronze washed and black burnished. The oval shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed “DRL” in stylized letters which is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and is above a bannered swastika. Unusually for this badge, quality is such that the letters DRL are individually cut out from the backing-nice. The concave reverse is maker marked “Wernstein Jena” and has a soldered on and has a barley twist stickpin. The face measures approximately 1/2 of an inch wide by 11/16 of an inch tall in diameter. Superior quality.
