WW1 RMS Balmoral Castle

Sold
£18.00

Description

An excellent novelty souvenir from the RMS Balmoral Castle, which sailed in 1910, under contract to the Royal Mail. During WW1 the ship was also used as a troop carrier and eventually scrapped in 1939. The patriotic silver-plated souvenir is in the form of a 'loving' or 'sharing cup', which features the Union Jack and flag of the 'Union-Castle' shipping line, with the three handles representing the cooperation between the Company, Royal Mail and Britain. A lovely example in near perfect condition, with a dark silver-plated finish, measuring 40 mm in height, diameter of 38 mm and a maximum width of 68 mm.
