WW2 RAF Longines Pilot's Wristwatch, c.1942

Sold
£895.00

Description

A genuine WW2 RAF Longines wristwatch, presented in original condition and in good working order. The off-white dial is untouched, having acquired an even-age patina and just a hint of fading. All three hands are genuine, as is the winding crown and the case shows signs of service use, but no defect. All in all, a lovely example to wear, coming on a MOD issue strap of the correct wartime pattern, as would have been originally supplied.Officially recorded by the Air Ministry as the Mark VII, this watch would have been issued to an RAF pilot or a navigator, in c.1942. At this time there was a shortage of military-grade watches, resulting in many being issued by the Air Ministry without first having had their case backs engraved. Nevertheless, this Longines is 6B/159 flying equipment.
