'1935 Saarland Status Referendum' Postcard

This is a nice original period postcard (Postkarte) about the referendum on the territorial status that was held in the Territory of the Saar Basin on 13 January 1935. In the referendum voters were asked whether the Saar should remain under League of Nations administration, return to Germany or become part of France. Over 90% voted in favour of reuniting with Germany. The card is showing two men shaking hands with the text: 'Saarland Treue zeigt der Welt wie Deutsches Volk zusammenhalt' (Saarland loyalty shows the world how German people stick together). This postcard was published by 'Ferd. Bayer' from Wiesbaden and measures approximately 15 x 10,5 cms in size. Nice original postcard!
