Manufactured in the U.S.A by the Savage Arms Corp for testing trigger pressure & main spring on the Lewis gun, both BSA (England) and Savage (US) produced the Lewis machine gun during WW1 but with a difference in calibre, . This spring balance has been left as found and not cleaned.
