50th. { Northumbrian } Infantry Division.

This much-travelled Division fought in the Western Desert before becoming part of the forces landing in Sicily being heavily engaged in the hard fought battle for Catania. In1944 the Division was withdrawn back to England to join 21st. Army Group for the Normandy landings.
