1946 1st ' A School of Purposes - Fougasse Posters 1939-1945 ' introduced by A.P.Herbert. 48pgs examining the wartimework of Punch cartoonist ' Fougasse ' the pseudonym of Cyril Kenneth Bird. Working for the Ministry of Information, War Office, London Transport, National Savings amongst others, Bird was probably most famous for his ' Careless talk ' series of posters but produced much other work. Full colour coverage of many of the campaigns with an analysis of the meaning and effectiveness of the work. Complete with slightly grubby d/w with minor chips and tears, good, clean condition.
