Chromed LMS Railway Service lapel badge.

Chromed oval, brass and enamel, lapel badge indicating employment with the London, Midland, Scottish Railway, half moon lapel fitting to the reverse. Railway service badges were based on a generic design with only the intials of the company to identify the individual railways, they were to be worn in and out of railway uniform. Chromed examples are known for all of the railway companies but their significance is speculation, possibly indicating office or management staff. Manufacturer marked to the reverse 'Fattorini & Sons, B'ham' and individually numbered.. Clean badge with undamaged enamel but with light abrasions and wear to highpoints.
