US Civil War M1860 Cavalry Sword, Ames 1865

Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measuring 34.5 inches in length, now with a dark steel patina finish. No real evidence of corrosion pitting, the blade has just turned dark over the last 150 years. The blade runs straight and true, with a nice gloss to the surface. Dated 1865 on the obverse of the ricasso, with faint Ames markings on the reverse. Dark brass patina finish to the guard and pommel, with original leather grip wrapping, and twisted brass wire binding. Property markings on the top of the guard, C 16, Company C, 16th weapon. No scabbard.
