Impressive Vintage South African 5” Boar's Tusk

Here on offer is an impressive vintage South African boar's tusk fitted with a metal end cap. This genuine wild boar's tusk originated from South Africa, where they are breed in captivity as a food source for captive wild cats, so the tusks are a natural bi-product. The beautiful naturally curved tusk has been polished and actually feels very tactile and comfortable to hold. It is unusual to find such a thin example as this piece, which still has a sharp pointed tip to it! Each tusk is UNIQUE in shape and size and may have some natural cracks, dark lines and shading in its structure. The base of the tusk has been fitted with what I think is a nickel silver cap. Tip to base (excluding the curve) it measures 5” (12.7cm) and across the curve it measures 4” (10.2cm). It weighs 26g.
