US 19th Century Doctor's Medical Bag & Tools, Patent Date 1871

Original era manufacture. We purchased this little set in 1978, as a Christmas present for Terri's Father that year. He worked as a Doctor in northern California and sadly, passed suddenly in 1980. When the estate was settled we received the medical bag and instruments back, and have kept them ever since. During our recent move we re-discovered the set and decided that it was time for someone else to enjoy them. All of the instruments were in the bag at the time of our purchase, sold to us then by one of our favorite antique shops in Old Town Scottsdale, Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe. The owner, Evelyn was a gracious lady and we purchased many wonderful things from her over the years. The lot consists of a black leather handbag with nickel fittings, showing a clear patent date of 1871 on the locking clasp. The surgical set appears complete, and is housed in black leather folding pouch. We kept the book on Old West Doctor's we sent Jack with the medical set, and the thank you letter he wrote us telling how pleased he was with his Christmas present.
