French 1880's Staff or Officials Sword,

Original era manufacture. Frankly I am not quite sure what this is, I believe it to be post Second Empire, and may represent a sword used by a school, official or perhaps a staff.The chrome steel blade measures 33.5 inches in length, double edged, running straight and true without issues. There are indistinct markings on the ricasso, but not clear to my eye.Brass guard which folds on one side, decorated with an oak & laurel leaf wreath with central bow. Beautiful wire wrapped grip in good repair.Dent free, chrome steel finished scabbard with a single suspension ring. Touch of surface corrosion at the drag.
