French 1866 Pattern Chassepot Bayonet, 1873, Early Third Republic Mfg

Original period manufacture. Brightish blade with a light scattering of surface staining with no corrosion pitting. Dark steel patina finish to the guard and locking spring, pleasing brass patina to the grip. The spine of the blade is marked Tulle Julliet 1873. Even peppering surface corrosion finish to the blue steel scabbard, with no dents save for one right at the throat. It is fairly deep but the blade can be inserted and drawn easily.
