DRL Sports Badge in Gold

DRL Sports Badge in Gold (Deutsches Reichsabzeichen für Leibesübungen in Gold). Originally introduced as the DRA medal shortly after the 1913 Olympic games as an incentive to promote physical training among the German population. In 1933 the DRA badge was replaced by a new DRL badge of the same design. This is a nice 'Buntmetall' piece which still retains all of it's original golden finish. The badge is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Wernstein' from Jena, the badge is also marked with 'D.R.G.M. 35269'. Nice example in very good condition!
