Iron Cross 1st Class 'K&Q' in Green Case

Sold
€650.00

Description

Iron Cross 1st class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes in its original 'green' coloured etui as issued. On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The magnetic cross has a three piece construction, the near mint condition cross shows great detail overall and is showing a nice slightly darkened patina. The cross is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Klein & Quenzer AG' from Idar-Oberstein. The cross comes with its original rare green coloured case, typical for this manufacturer. The case is in very good condition with minimal wear, see photos. These 'green' coloured cases are very hard to find. A nice and desirable set!
