Egyptian, 19th Century Artillery Sword...I Think

Sold
$165.00

Description

Original era manufacture. Based on the French pattern M1829 Artillery sword, with a cast brass, one-piece guard and grip, with curved blade, and steel scabbard with a single suspension ring. The polished steel blade measures 31.5 inches in length, with a shallow fuller running nearly the entire blade length on each side. The blade is clean, with a few tiny nicks in the edge, normal age staining, with no corrosion issues. The blade is fairly straight, with a very slight curve to the left about 8 inches from the tip.On each side of the ricasso are Arabic numbers and markings, which certainly can be deciphered. The cast grip is heavy, displaying a floral design. Overall the weapon is fairly well balanced, and does not feel like a theatrical piece.Steel scabbard with an old silver paint finish, again with Arabic markings on each side of the drag, with typical dings and dents from service use along its length. My best guess on this sword being Egyptian, as their army and police were greatly influenced by arms from European nations duringthe 19th century.
