Description

Original period manufacture. A very clean example of an 1840 pattern Cavalry sword imported into the US during the Civil War, 1861-1865.The weapon is unmarked as to maker or country but is in very soundcondition. Bright steel blade withsome very light clouding and speckling from age. The thin leather bumper is in place at the base of the blade. Brass three branch guard and pommel, leather wrapped grip bound with twisted brass wire. Polished steel scabbard with minimal denting and no corrosion issues. Only minor flaws to report, the grip is slightly loose and one of the scabbard throat screws is missing. Normal age and wear overall.
