US Civil War 1840 Pattern Cavalry Sword, Horstmann, Keystone Marking

Original period manufacture. A very clean example of a 1840 pattern cavalry sword, often referred to as the 'wristbreaker', by it's users. Polished steel, 35.5 inch blade running straight and true, with no issues beyond normal age and use. On the obverse ricasso is a deeply struck, four-sided keystone marking, which I have been told represents the Roby Sword Company. On the opposite side is the name of the famous military dealer, Horstmann, Phila. The leather bumper is at the base of the blade, sound three branch brass guard with a leather wrapped grip bound with twisted brass wire. Dent-free nickel plated scabbard showing some areas of missing finish, mostly on the end of the drag.
