French Second Empire, Unknown Officers Buckle

Original era manufacture. A convex gilded brass buckle with clipped corners and recessed edge, displaying a silver washed rooster standing upon crossed fasces. Multi piece construction, light age and wear. I have seen online reference to this pattern buckle as M1848, worn by the Garde Nationale.
