French Second Empire, Bi-Corne Hat, RMS

Original era manufacture. Black fur felt Bi-Corne hat with feather trim, Paris maker marked on the interior. Worn with the points being side to side, large gold wire decoration on the front, with a tricolor silk cockade beneath. Placed on one end of the wire band is a silver color button decorated with a crown and the letters RMS. Overall the hat is sound for its age, showing normal age and wear. The sweatband is missing, and the small cotton stitch loop which holds the back of the hat to the crown is broken, a fairly simple fix.
